Sure they may look like normal people, but looks can be deceiving. The 19 year old male in the center of the picture to the right is Brock Turner, a convicted rapist and a sad excuse for a human being. His father, Dan Turner (left of Brock) whose letter to the judge in his son’s trial has the country in an uproar. This is a prime time where the old adage ‘the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree’ can be inferred. Brock Turner, whom at the time of his crime was a student at Stanford University, was seen violently raping an unconscious female behind a dumpster at a campus frat house. Luckily, a few witnesses to this heinous act were able to subdue a fleeing Turner until the proper authorities arrived. Instead of admitting his wrong and accepting a punishment, Brock Turner took his victim to court and tried to contest the allegations in an attempt to prove that it was “consensual sex”. During the trial, as stated before, Brock’s father wrote a letter to the judge begging for leniency in sentencing his son in which he stated: “His life will never be the one that he dreamed about and worked so hard to achieve. That is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20 plus years of life.” 20 minutes of action! Excuse me Mr. Turner, how long does it take to murder someone? 1 second? Maybe 2 seconds?
Aside from the Turner family’s obvious mental illness, it was the judge’s ruling of only six months county jail time (of which he will probably only have to serve three depending on his behavior) along with three years probation that has the people writhing in anger. 3 Felony Sexual Assault Convictions and thats his sentence? Clearly the public’s outrage has validity. I’ve seen shoplifters get stiffer punishments. Mark it as another failure in the system due to the fact that the victim isn’t rich or famous and the defendant must obviously have a large amount of capital and or some serious connections. Unbelievable…
