In January 2015 21 year old Christopher Lee Cornell of Ohio was accused of plotting a terrorist attack on the US Capitol. Luckily the FBI was able to detain the suspect before any type of violence occurred. Cornell was arrested outside a gun shop in Cincinnati after supposedly just purchasing two high capacity assault weapons. As of Friday, Cornell’s lawyers filed a change of plea notice which is grounds to believe he may be changing his plea from not guilty to guilty. This incident is another example of why we need to remain extremely vigilant and cannot trust anyone regardless if they are a US citizen or not. It is believed that Cornell was planning to execute these acts of terror in the name of the Islamic State.
